September 30, 2016, I had privileged opportunity to meet the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan at Innovation-hub Teku. It was amazing moment talking about different topics and listening her great advises. She spends around 45 minutes with us talking about different Youth Issues, US-Nepal Relationship, Education, Civic Engagement Project (CEP) such as econstruction.org and Lunch Box which were fully funded by US Embassy Nepal.

Assistant Secretary Ryan was so curious about the youth activities ongoing here in Nepal. She added that youth can really make the shape of a country through their involvement, their brilliant ideas and power are great sources of the changes. Nepal has great resources and so good opportunity to do everything here. US-Nepal exchange program helps to bring out the new platform to young peoples in the exchange of ideas, culture and different activities. She furthermore added, US Government always ready to support youth-related program to empower the energetic youth of Nepal.

Same way,Youth Initiative as Non-Government Organization NGO in Nepal one of the representative describe the program that is ongoing and completed with a partnership with US Embassy Nepal. He more added exchange program played a wonderful role and empower other young people for doing good things in Nepali community.

Nepal had major affected by 6.8 Magnitude of the earthquake in April 2015. According to the Nepal Government, more than 82,000 peoples are seriously affected. After a more than the year of devastating earthquake Reconstruction activities are not much growing faster. People still are living in the degradable situation without any good home.

Furthermore, Assistant Secretary Ryan discussed the technological impact of exchanging information. Technology plays a vital role to reach the information so easily to the people. We also discussed the major aim of econstruction project, that is to reach right information to the right people on right time about all the activities of reconstruction. Followed by Building code as per suggested by Nepal Government, Calculator that can calculate all the needed resources while building a home, Vastru-Satra and all help to many people who are affected directly and indirectly by the earthquake. E-construction team recently finished first Orientation about reconstruction on Kewalpur Dhading on the third week of September 2016. Dhading is located just around 30 KM east from the capital which is mostly affected areas by the earthquake last year.

One of my friend from Lunch Box team shared about her group’s project, basically focused on the Women Empowerment Program through Entrepreneurship. She added the majority of the women and girls are backward in country Nepal. They are not given much more platform and opportunities. Their project aims to address the women empowerment and entrepreneurship issues.

In the discussion session, I also addressed Assistant Secretary Ryan question saying " Young People like my age think in a very extraordinary way. They are so capable enough to do some good here in Nepal. Only they are not finding good sources of information along with mentorship,”

Overall, the meeting was so memorable with Assistant Secretary Ryan. Her work on the White House along with President Obama was truly inspiring on.
